Ask questions about everything in your Google Drive with our simple integration.

Google Drive may only be added to a single AskAI at a time. However, you can have multiple integrations for any AskAI e.g. Google Drive and Notion.

To remove a connection from an AskAI please contact us via chat.

We're using our trusted partner, Carbon.ai, to securely connect with your Google Drive. Important: Our partner is still awaiting final approval from Google for their Drive integration. This is why you'll see a warning from Google that you'll need to accept, this will be resolved in the next few weeks.

What happens if I add a folder?

When you select and add a folder, all files in that folder, along with any subfolders and their files will be added to your AskAI.

In short, everything within the folder you select is added.

What content types can I add?

You can add any of the following with your Google Drive connection:

• Google Docs

• Google Slides

• Google Sheets

• Files:

  • PDF

  • CSV

  • docx

  • txt

  • md

  • pptx

If you have files that are not listed above, e.g. xlsx or png files then they will be ignored and not uploaded.

Each file is classed as 1 piece of content.

Will it add and sync files that I subsequently add to my Google Drive folders?

Yes, any new files or subfolders that are stored within the folders you have synced will also be synced and added to your AskAI, this sync happens every 24 hours.

What is the maximum file size for a Google Drive upload?

Unlike normal file uploads of up to 25Mb, Google Drive uploads must be less than 10Mb per file.

Will my content be kept up to date?

All files are refreshed daily, so your content will always be using the most up-to-date version. You can also force the content to update by using the refresh button, visible on each piece of content.

How can I remove Google Drive content from my AskAI?

To remove Google Drive content from your AskAI you should delete it from your Google Drive first, or unsync that document or folder, once you have done this, then delete it from your AskAI.

If you just delete from your AskAI without removing from Google Drive or unsyncing the document or folder then when the content re-syncs every 24 hours then the piece of content will be added back in.

How can I add more files or folders?

Once Google Drive has been connected, you can add more files by selecting "Add more files" on the content upload screen for your My AskAI.

You'll be asked to login again, and accept the warning from Google.

Files and folders you've previously selected won't be highlighted, but they are still being synced with your AskAI.

Follow our step-by-step instructions below

1. Navigate to the AskAI you would like to connect your Google Drive to from: https://myaskai.com/ask-ai-dashboard or Create a new AskAI

2. Click "Connect"

1. Click "Connect" again on Google Drive

1. A connection screen with Carbon.ai (our 3rd party provider integrations provider) will be shown. Click "Connect".

1. Now choose the Google Account on which the documents you would like to share are stored.

1. Click "Advanced" (Carbon is currently going through approvals with Google, we expect this message to disappear in the coming weeks).

1. Click "Go to carbon.ai (unsafe)"

1. Click "Continue"

1. You will then see a screen where it will ask you to give carbon.ai permissions to various things. Choose "Select all" then continue.

1. Click "Select Files From Google Drive"

1. Choose all the folders and files you want to upload to your AskAI.

If you select a folder, it will add everything contained within that folder, along with any subfolders.

To select multiple files at once hold the SHIFT key while selecting.

1. Once you have chosen all the files you want to add, click Select (you can always add more later on).

1. You will be taken back to this screen, which you can now close and your 1st tab will be refreshed and directed back to your AskAI's upload content screen.

1. You will now see all your files being added to your AskAI, then you can click to Start asking questions!
